Kristen Retallick lives and works on Yorta Yorta land both as an arts worker and a visual artist. Her practice is multidisciplinary and she works predominantly in drawing and painting in inks, charcoal and acrylic. Her minimal approach to the figure and landscape explores complex human relationships with land, water and each other.

Hands-on and deeply committed to her local community, Kristen has worked in the arts for over two decades and possesses a breadth and depth of well-rounded experience. She is an inspiring creative leader with a deep understanding of the Goulburn Valley region’s needs, and what is required to deliver quality arts programs, events and exhibitions.

Kristen focuses on shaping experiences that go beyond the event. She's passionate about supporting artists and audiences to grow and develop, leaving impressions that remain a part of their practice and lives. She loves to showcase what people are capable of, but loves even more, to create platforms for testing ideas, embracing what is possible and envisioning the future.

Recently as Artistic Director of the Shepparton Festival, Kristen worked deeply with the Greater Shepparton community and beyond. She also works alongside First Nations creatives at Kaiela Arts, assisting the delivery of their education program - Galnyatj. She has previously held roles such as Arts and Culture Team Leader at Moira Shire Council, Gallery Manager at The G.R.A.I.N. Store in Nathalia, and as a secondary arts educator.
