The event was conceived and creatively led by Kristen Retallick and Becky Jane Fortin. The artists established a co-design process that supported designers to explore their identities and experiences through clothing, textiles and form. The showcase featured a purpose-built set, drawing inspiration from Shepparton’s open skies and expansive horizons.

Held at Elsewhere at SAM, the event created an inclusive, celebratory atmosphere for artists, families and community. Sky Stories highlighted emerging and established designers, strengthened local creative networks and was an expression of community pride through fashion and storytelling.
